Turtalius Barnaclius and his mythical element swam into view...

Turtalius Barnaclius developed and produced in February this year...
This chipper chap came about as a result of the rock also, but again I needed to continue with a selection       of creatures that would be in certain multitude that would allow them to feel they all were of a collective absolution. Perhaps they were going to be more admired if they were in a collection.
This one yet again like ''Luther the Lizard'' has a chipper chap smile that is cheeky. It is a great thing to see him yet somehow having a jaw that somehow more masculine made with it being etched round his jaw. It almost seems slightly comical like those dreadful beards that have a lined edge and aren't absolute. I just liked the fact that the fins were both at different angles too.

In this picture it is wonderous to see the mallet on the right hand side and how it is a perfect accompaniment to the picture as in showing the sculpturists aptitude in producing his work. The light so willingly comes at a great angle to make it not too dark and the blue rug underneath that is used to normally shed the work, is a great way to also show the mess on a different backdrop other than the white backdrop. Here the piece has a cyclopedic look, without its eye. Poor Turtalius, I am, he says, when shall I get my eye, ''Eye me up baby!''.

The right hand side of the creature again has a similar look to Leviathan excepthis jaw is closed not dissimilar in its idea, as a turtle, come a beak for a bird. And it is no doubt wider. But I love the fact my sculptures are not entirely streamlined otherwise they might seem like architectural pieces that were streamlined.

The idea of barnacles for the top of the creature which has four parts to him. Was to do with a Stegasaurus look, a look if not looking at the prehistoric thinking, could be connected with the porcupine that has a mullet perhaps, as the top half of his head is almost pronounced not dissimilar to the Luthers with his horn. How interesting these discoveries as the mind roves for the unexplained between the previous practical motions of one's hand on one's stone.

Here as I listen to Irish music, I feel reenergised having then continue for a short moment, with the idea of eating gulp by gulp of potato with mashed tuna and courgette as I go, typing then eating, eating then typing, at suggesting what I see in the piece in each different angled view in each picture, here he is a tough dude, again not so bad from this angle showing at least barnacles for a condition that should show him with some appearance other than bald, that gives him a comely appearance. It has something slightly to me of the creature in Fraggle rock that had no eyes except a cap in the head, quite funny that connective thought or idea  that connected there...

Another close angled shot, that shows the creature almost lunging in at the viewer and the barnacles needing more depth but already showing the depth needed to make the creature seem respectable in some way already... The roundness on its head, that reclines very gradually is very great indeed...

This is a great shot, the angle of it being past 45 degrees almost shows a cool shot too, that is of it flying down to the basest ocean perhaps, if ones imagination removes oneself from the background in here and just lets one float away, for it own good, this also does Turtalius service even though missing its eye, the fins, sharp dark shadow, does it the service that makes it look in flight. I had not yet done all the barnacles either here, but still I found some moment that there came to me, the idea it would be like a man having his head shaved fully and then leave a part of it from half way still further grown too much, a mess really! Well it is a question of opinion and it is a question of the artists choice no doubt as well...
Here the back of the sculpture shows quite completely the lack of the barnacles reaching the halfway mark of the body, but not only that it somehow enticed me to continue producing them as an ongoing pattern, like partial sequins that are covering the body like a curly haired texture perhaps...

Here is his very big rounded bird beak smile.
The incline of the head was made just the way it should with the beak emerging one third of the way and meeting with the forehead, just there....If it were two thirds, it would have seemed like the beak fell out of the face, that would have been comical and less natural, I couldn't have that, so I choice wisely I believe.

Here the two barnacles at the top of the head and forefront of it, do seem like horns on a stegasaurus, even what I was feeling was that I wanted to imagine the stegasaurus to somehow seemingly feel if the effect, would produce itself in its most splendid state and concentrating on that, it produced something quite good...

I do believe any closer with those 'Horny Barnacles' and I would have done this sculpture a disservice,
it will seem even more marvellous with the sculpture sanded down even more as I shall buy some sanding paper from Brydens where they have the right kind of sanding paper there...That should do it for wet and dry types...of which their are only 4 types I need 200, 400, 600, then 1200 I believe.

This is pear shaped looking oval, really seems very pleasant to the eye, with its white engraving and it encourages the audience to see the wing, quite pleasantly...
I nice look of seeing the rock in its rounded state, the hand holding it tenderly in the way of somehow respecting that not being too hard with it, will also allow it not to rock too much and cause imperfections in the other sides of the surface...
The Eye of the creature finally appears, something in my mind sighs a sigh of relief, it is somehow a little more perfect, and it complements the beak, one can't simply say enough, as perfection, relies on complication and simplicity, simplicity that building up in its total state makes complications never worth anything except to still rely on simplicity itself, one returns in one complete revolution to be happy and content, not knowing if one guides oneself or even if so, you still feel content being unknowingly guided too...
This sculpture has a face that is a little more awake with the eye being larger and somehow less turretted perhaps like those of a lizard. It is almost as if it shows a human state to it. A pupil makes the creature almost more respectful to the grace of the world, the seas that wash endlessly onwards, the aureole of life that is ever flowing and unrepentant in offering winds to fracture new paths of glory and growth...
I like the Wings of Sleep whilst writing this about the sculpture, it almost looks as if Turtalius is ready to go to bed here, lieing on his side....But then again that is silly of course. I do believe in some respects this shot is a little wrong, however it works for the mildly humorous notion of perhaps him being worldly with his carefully planned pupil, purposefully holed out, to show the worldliness better and to show the sleeping effect if one takes into account the almost very faint shimmering sensation of the curve like mound where his fin is....
Here the sculpture almost looks as if he speak ''Im a chap!!'', it is a good shot here...
Then the other eye was grooved out and another good pose showing just the right amount of etched response for the beak to make him seem as if he is just content in a savvy way..

Next I was really looking to add some curls to the whole thing and that is the think which is missing... the underside curls that were about to be thought of and to be carved into the behind of the wing...

The rest of the sculpture pieces all shown to be sanded and washed down, makes it glimmer a perfect shot showing as well the barnacles standing out there, like the shine on the glimmer of the black olives I ate recently, it seems delicious to see the sculpture more corrected when you give the whole back a full set of barnacles protecting him if he were real/real from the harm that his half exposed back might get...

This is almost like a look from Turtalius saying ''Alright chaps Im ready to zoom into battle and sail through some of those fishy do das now, let me get zipping, mateys!'' Love the green effect that emerges as the sculpture is wetted, this is going to be an interesting look when it gets glazed and is then a finished product.

Hey guys whats the matter you know Im tough with my mullety barnacle head, look at me shined up and ready to go....So it is an interesting set of pictures this showing just how different rocks appear with their respective characters emerging as the rocks are wetted and almost half ready to go....

Much further on down the line I have decided to add some alterations to the creature as in showing that he has now been given more depth, on the underside, to really emphasize the true deep quality that he has been given to his curly tentacles that keep him wafting on the undercurrents in any nether deep part of the ocean...

The next picture will show another picture showing the different way the shot shows even more the depth with some accuracy of sharpness given to the middle tentacles on either side... The ruffler really did its work when getting the whole of the plateau underneath the tentacles to be smoothed down, without overworking myself with any of the chisels, also it causes me to get the surfaces smoothed down instead of chipping it endlessly, with the effect of almost never stopping in the efforts to get to a certain plateau ready for sanding...What a beautiful sight it will be seeing the plateau sanded down in contrast to its existing look, it will cause the creature to even seem more so in the depths of that ocean, when water blesses the surface and it is then again adjusted in my minds eye...

Here is Turtalius a fish of mythical prowess, his finally honed octopus ability and his fins makes him like a stealth bomber to the human world, combined with helicopter like power, the ability to glide and to fly wherever he peruses, in his fine, fine way, he manages to be a chipper creature divulging into great depths just to find fishes that have part perished to rise to the surface and loung on rocks if he pleases, being that the galapagos islands is where his distant cousin Luther the lizard lives sometimes, he knows this is also his favourite spot.
