Turtalius Barnaclius and his mythical element swam into view...

Turtalius Barnaclius developed and produced in February this year...
This chipper chap came about as a result of the rock also, but again I needed to continue with a selection       of creatures that would be in certain multitude that would allow them to feel they all were of a collective absolution. Perhaps they were going to be more admired if they were in a collection.
This one yet again like ''Luther the Lizard'' has a chipper chap smile that is cheeky. It is a great thing to see him yet somehow having a jaw that somehow more masculine made with it being etched round his jaw. It almost seems slightly comical like those dreadful beards that have a lined edge and aren't absolute. I just liked the fact that the fins were both at different angles too.

In this picture it is wonderous to see the mallet on the right hand side and how it is a perfect accompaniment to the picture as in showing the sculpturists aptitude in producing his work. The light so willingly comes at a great angle to make it not too dark and the blue rug underneath that is used to normally shed the work, is a great way to also show the mess on a different backdrop other than the white backdrop. Here the piece has a cyclopedic look, without its eye. Poor Turtalius, I am, he says, when shall I get my eye, ''Eye me up baby!''.

The right hand side of the creature again has a similar look to Leviathan excepthis jaw is closed not dissimilar in its idea, as a turtle, come a beak for a bird. And it is no doubt wider. But I love the fact my sculptures are not entirely streamlined otherwise they might seem like architectural pieces that were streamlined.

The idea of barnacles for the top of the creature which has four parts to him. Was to do with a Stegasaurus look, a look if not looking at the prehistoric thinking, could be connected with the porcupine that has a mullet perhaps, as the top half of his head is almost pronounced not dissimilar to the Luthers with his horn. How interesting these discoveries as the mind roves for the unexplained between the previous practical motions of one's hand on one's stone.

Here as I listen to Irish music, I feel reenergised having then continue for a short moment, with the idea of eating gulp by gulp of potato with mashed tuna and courgette as I go, typing then eating, eating then typing, at suggesting what I see in the piece in each different angled view in each picture, here he is a tough dude, again not so bad from this angle showing at least barnacles for a condition that should show him with some appearance other than bald, that gives him a comely appearance. It has something slightly to me of the creature in Fraggle rock that had no eyes except a cap in the head, quite funny that connective thought or idea  that connected there...

Another close angled shot, that shows the creature almost lunging in at the viewer and the barnacles needing more depth but already showing the depth needed to make the creature seem respectable in some way already... The roundness on its head, that reclines very gradually is very great indeed...

This is a great shot, the angle of it being past 45 degrees almost shows a cool shot too, that is of it flying down to the basest ocean perhaps, if ones imagination removes oneself from the background in here and just lets one float away, for it own good, this also does Turtalius service even though missing its eye, the fins, sharp dark shadow, does it the service that makes it look in flight. I had not yet done all the barnacles either here, but still I found some moment that there came to me, the idea it would be like a man having his head shaved fully and then leave a part of it from half way still further grown too much, a mess really! Well it is a question of opinion and it is a question of the artists choice no doubt as well...
Here the back of the sculpture shows quite completely the lack of the barnacles reaching the halfway mark of the body, but not only that it somehow enticed me to continue producing them as an ongoing pattern, like partial sequins that are covering the body like a curly haired texture perhaps...

Here is his very big rounded bird beak smile.
The incline of the head was made just the way it should with the beak emerging one third of the way and meeting with the forehead, just there....If it were two thirds, it would have seemed like the beak fell out of the face, that would have been comical and less natural, I couldn't have that, so I choice wisely I believe.

Here the two barnacles at the top of the head and forefront of it, do seem like horns on a stegasaurus, even what I was feeling was that I wanted to imagine the stegasaurus to somehow seemingly feel if the effect, would produce itself in its most splendid state and concentrating on that, it produced something quite good...

I do believe any closer with those 'Horny Barnacles' and I would have done this sculpture a disservice,
it will seem even more marvellous with the sculpture sanded down even more as I shall buy some sanding paper from Brydens where they have the right kind of sanding paper there...That should do it for wet and dry types...of which their are only 4 types I need 200, 400, 600, then 1200 I believe.

This is pear shaped looking oval, really seems very pleasant to the eye, with its white engraving and it encourages the audience to see the wing, quite pleasantly...
I nice look of seeing the rock in its rounded state, the hand holding it tenderly in the way of somehow respecting that not being too hard with it, will also allow it not to rock too much and cause imperfections in the other sides of the surface...
The Eye of the creature finally appears, something in my mind sighs a sigh of relief, it is somehow a little more perfect, and it complements the beak, one can't simply say enough, as perfection, relies on complication and simplicity, simplicity that building up in its total state makes complications never worth anything except to still rely on simplicity itself, one returns in one complete revolution to be happy and content, not knowing if one guides oneself or even if so, you still feel content being unknowingly guided too...
This sculpture has a face that is a little more awake with the eye being larger and somehow less turretted perhaps like those of a lizard. It is almost as if it shows a human state to it. A pupil makes the creature almost more respectful to the grace of the world, the seas that wash endlessly onwards, the aureole of life that is ever flowing and unrepentant in offering winds to fracture new paths of glory and growth...
I like the Wings of Sleep whilst writing this about the sculpture, it almost looks as if Turtalius is ready to go to bed here, lieing on his side....But then again that is silly of course. I do believe in some respects this shot is a little wrong, however it works for the mildly humorous notion of perhaps him being worldly with his carefully planned pupil, purposefully holed out, to show the worldliness better and to show the sleeping effect if one takes into account the almost very faint shimmering sensation of the curve like mound where his fin is....
Here the sculpture almost looks as if he speak ''Im a chap!!'', it is a good shot here...
Then the other eye was grooved out and another good pose showing just the right amount of etched response for the beak to make him seem as if he is just content in a savvy way..

Next I was really looking to add some curls to the whole thing and that is the think which is missing... the underside curls that were about to be thought of and to be carved into the behind of the wing...

The rest of the sculpture pieces all shown to be sanded and washed down, makes it glimmer a perfect shot showing as well the barnacles standing out there, like the shine on the glimmer of the black olives I ate recently, it seems delicious to see the sculpture more corrected when you give the whole back a full set of barnacles protecting him if he were real/real from the harm that his half exposed back might get...

This is almost like a look from Turtalius saying ''Alright chaps Im ready to zoom into battle and sail through some of those fishy do das now, let me get zipping, mateys!'' Love the green effect that emerges as the sculpture is wetted, this is going to be an interesting look when it gets glazed and is then a finished product.

Hey guys whats the matter you know Im tough with my mullety barnacle head, look at me shined up and ready to go....So it is an interesting set of pictures this showing just how different rocks appear with their respective characters emerging as the rocks are wetted and almost half ready to go....

Much further on down the line I have decided to add some alterations to the creature as in showing that he has now been given more depth, on the underside, to really emphasize the true deep quality that he has been given to his curly tentacles that keep him wafting on the undercurrents in any nether deep part of the ocean...

The next picture will show another picture showing the different way the shot shows even more the depth with some accuracy of sharpness given to the middle tentacles on either side... The ruffler really did its work when getting the whole of the plateau underneath the tentacles to be smoothed down, without overworking myself with any of the chisels, also it causes me to get the surfaces smoothed down instead of chipping it endlessly, with the effect of almost never stopping in the efforts to get to a certain plateau ready for sanding...What a beautiful sight it will be seeing the plateau sanded down in contrast to its existing look, it will cause the creature to even seem more so in the depths of that ocean, when water blesses the surface and it is then again adjusted in my minds eye...

Here is Turtalius a fish of mythical prowess, his finally honed octopus ability and his fins makes him like a stealth bomber to the human world, combined with helicopter like power, the ability to glide and to fly wherever he peruses, in his fine, fine way, he manages to be a chipper creature divulging into great depths just to find fishes that have part perished to rise to the surface and loung on rocks if he pleases, being that the galapagos islands is where his distant cousin Luther the lizard lives sometimes, he knows this is also his favourite spot.

Levi Leviathan the goliath of the seas storms through bumbling gallantly...

"Levi the Leviathan"....Here he is and his teeth look sharp and his almond eye gazes at you through an angled way which keeps you entranced (perhaps). However, his montstrous size is of definite feel that you would imagine a creature such as him in the waters in the prehistoric times, it is however unavailable to me at the moment. His size is like a whale or even bigger if it were possible to make him to the actual shape that was required with some adjustments to the length and somehow modifying the abstract boundaries to evaluate a more concise idea in my expanse mind. I was making him the way he was I found that I was able to find the guidelines by penciling in some impression in the surface, even if, as ever, you move the guidelines (pencil marks) to make the impression better so far as the, for instance, girth of the belly in the case here.

The red cushion is a great idea here to make the glow of the stonework after sanding with water appear almost reddened on its slightly sandstone look. It has a great shimmery look to it, that blinks at you through recesses, through little recesses close to the edge of the almond eyes that ominously look on at you.

The contrast between the redness in the previous photo, to the orange look which quite definitely gets displayed here, is prevalent through the black table having a stark contrast with the true texture of the rock sepolite's colour here. It is a little better to see it in its true state as sometimes the eye, prefers the true to the abstract in its colour if not the state it could be most definitely be portrayed with its shape. I find I cannot quite make my mind up whether on looking at the size of the head on one side, being a certain size larger to the size it appears in this photo gives it a quirkly look. Plus one fin suggest the creature may be playing with the curvature of the water as the currents of it swathe past its fins. What direction would the fin be taking the creature if it has its second fin on the side more orange, so this evaluation gives the viewer an impression of it being in motion even more, than perhaps the idea of the artist (me... :-)) creating different looks on either side due to my own accidental or purposeful fault.

Here is a good look at the tail, which has a recess of 2/3mm which is just about enough if not perhaps allowing me the possibility of sheering off a certain bit more to create 1mm more depth. I obviously haven't quite done enough round the tail to create depth here. So that will continue as well. I am going to try and cause the stone to have atleast a depth of 1 to 1.5 cm depth so it really stands out, and being careful to not allow the stone to be sanded as well.

I have done an interesting photo that shows the angle of making the creature also seem in flight. It has such sharp teeth, that when talking to the Priest earlier nearby where I live (not mentioning a name to keep things private and confidential as I hope people would respect me for that, not to mention kindness in courtousy), I was quite bemused how energy just comes to flourish at ones tips (maybe flourish isn't the word, however magnificent like a transparent sparkiness perhaps). I do however like the fact that in time the production has at different moments very rewarding feelings, like watching something settle between ripples in a lake, aware of something inside also being at 'one' with the vibrations within one's soul. It is an interesting experience.

The Lizard and his canny Lizard ways

Here is my Lizard produced in the year that I went to the Fringe festival and I found myself wanting and needing to evolve spiritually in so many ways after having had lost a great girlfriend of mine. She had taken a great chunk out of me and so in some ways we recuperate we always do. I found myself wondering how I could wander along to the Fringe, after having spent some months moping. Obviously on reflection I found it rather amusing that we have a lot of wasteful moments to let ourselves regenerate, the human soul needs the time though, probably because something powerful was needed to make love seem lovely in its tremendous bountiful abandon, that on its return made me feel I was looking head long down a tremulous tunnel that shook and shuddered. I do feel ingratiated nevertheless though.
Well here he is produced on a day that was weekend of April going May, the exact date loses me, but the year was 2008. That means that in the 2 years I had been doing sculpting, I had also been battling some other issues, however the amount of produced pieces is not inducive to the sudden plenty that come to be aroused into production once the sparks fly closer to the fire and then one is like the piston that revolves near to the train always chugging round. I produced this piece thinking of a lady reclining on a stone, then when talking with a man called Anthony I found myself instead hoping to produce something simpler.
He said ''You must look into the stone'' and his son was also there. It was really great being humbled under the watchful eye of someone who had suffered difficulties like his friend who was named Elvis. And they both had suffered in Zimbabwee. I had never suffered such hardships, however we all suffer some in different ways. I was taken aback when I realised that even when I produced something that was not what I wanted it would turn out alright. However it did. And so much so that later on a lot of people had found they were suprising me with the idea that it was definitely looking like a Lizard.
The face is suggestive of a creature that has the same humble distinctive look I have however he has sports a special head that allows him to nudge things out of the way with his horn. He is very much like the lizard found in the Russell Crowe film, ''Master and Commander'' (love that film with the endearing eyes of Russell Crowe, even though at times he can also be a braggard).
I found that I very happy he sported a great big chest, a long tail that was sanded many more times than the feet, don't know how many, maybe a couple more times. -And does it matter.-
The cheeky look of the mouth also states that there something that inherently of me still found life bouncy, happy, joyful, yet somehow slightly content even when a great deal was considered difficult in whatever way life presents itself.

On this side of his face the red stone whatever kind that was slightly involved in the smallest part of this rock that flecks his face so correctly it makes one wonder what he would look like if he did so happen to have a different form in some other animal form. I also wonder, if the rock could have been further extended so there was a deeper recess below his chest, be he looks snug (comfortable anyhow!).
Its a sort of childlike expression to be like a kid in a bed, who has bound himself into a ball in bed. Sort of sweet maybe, I remember a friend of mine doing that, even I doing that in Jeddah when I lived Saudi Arabia, when sleeping on Bunk beds. The friend of course was one of many twins who was the third youngest.

Maybe he has a fiery cheekiness to him, you know perhaps lets ask ourselves what sort of cheekiness best describes a lizard that might be akin to living around human beings most of the time. Would it be scottish, Irish or maybe whatever the choice I would love to know about a story that someone would get involved in showing the fact that they had been inspired by my sculpture, to write about a Galapagos lizard. A little like a story I read once about a naughty monkey, I forget the name, of a monkey on the front cover who is yellow furred and always did mischief in the captains quarters stealing this or that. But one would make the story unique and not plagiarise or use too much of the same ideas remaining in other stories so that the juiciness would definitely grab the viewer like some magnetically drawn turretted lizard themselves. Their eagerly awaiting to curve and curl the next page on.

Here is the lizard showing his wonderful back off to us and the lovely lined edges of his hind legs. He is a creature with a slight hunched soldiers that suggests he shrugs off the parts of life that are either too difficult or just a bore for anyone including himself. I like the way that I was contemplating using the Hammer to tinker away at creating a spikey texture and I loved the conversation I had with a friend called Jazzy, who really is a gem of a friend. She made me smile today with a great white in the eyes glee, like Santa somehow. haha. Wonderful the friends we have indeed! We were talking about how I thought that a magpie reminded me of her, who was trying to pluck out a worm between two cracks in a pavement. It was such a funny magpie obviously being cheeky himself, allowing me to see the beauty in the odd magpie having a 'crack' (no pun intended) at keeping the human beans kept on geussing. I did think ''You daft thing, what do you think you will find'', he looked at me craftily and perhaps said '' I am getting that worm even if you think it is impossibly, you'll see'' - what a funny thing.

Here again we see the big bulge of the Luther lizard and how he so loving sits on this rock contemplating the moving shores that so pleasantly move over the azure blue waters, the lull of those waves a never ending ''Shhhhhhhhh''.... Beautiful.

Philbys Youtube scores

''Philbys Youtube films'' have been an ongoing thing that have been uploaded for 2 years or so.

I enjoy making these films as they give me some relief to virtuously embrace the harmony that weaves a special place in my heart. There is often much melodies that need to be churned out and removed from the mind of mine.

Starflower emerging from Lillypad, a garden piece...:-)

Here is the Stalk that appears on one side showing a long furl that has two miniature sepals produced sometime in 4 september. The look of this structure is something produced that is there to show an extra structure that rises of its own accord, something other than the stalk that lifts to be attached to the Petals on the most top part of the structure.

A better picture of it showing the base and the beginning stages on the right hand side of the other manifestations to yet arrive out of it.

The sepals and how they appear on the side of the structure sideways. The same stalk rising (excuse me to attach itself to the petals above, I did so however on earlier notation it didn't how very wrong hahaha).
I like it looking defined later I create more depth and I also allow myself atleast a couple of centimetres of full depth into the surrounding rock from the stalk to create a black cavity that shows the stalk almost life like if it can be deemed this way.

Below a sideways pose of the structure showing the artistic viewpoint of where the starflowers will emerge below the sandstone looking rock that has been scored.

Here is another angled shot of a clockwise 30 degree shot that has a picture of petals that really do need to be more pronounced, again I need to realise that this is just the beginning of this part to be more pronounced, it will be, I was made aware of some exciting discoveries today, that telling people about this blog, gave me enthusiasm to slightly move off into tangent and explain that wonderful feeling that blogs give one, a magnificent surge into a realm that almost encompasses a demiworld, where we have controlled supposedly of our own world. But still it isnt entirely true, computers are programmed, computers that hold programs with capabilities that allow functions of users on blogs to manifest certain ideas, to utilise certain templates to allow one freedom of a blog, of describing their world, their do still have to realise that the limitations are forever in the hands of those that are the most capable blogger and programmer who can aspire in ways to make theirs much more appealing. However, even when this is the case, I don't lose sleep, finding that like a room that has a sufficient amount of bumpf, the feng shui of the blogspot is appealing, that allows spaces for the eye to relax, as well as lettering, pictures, films, and comments to let the user be the participant in their feast of entertainment. Rather a lot to attach to a specified picture above, of which I heartily apologise to the viewer for the interruption in moving to a great realm of tangency. Blah, Blah, blah.

This is a fine picture showing the full on view of the petal head, which is mostly scratched out with ruffler and small 4 mm chisel on the underside. The idea to begin with was merely to allow myself one large rounded circumference of petal that was entirely on its own with separate petal parts, the task then became furthermore a greater task.... However the burden of being involved in this, didn't discourage me, it was as I stated to my friend and buddhist chanter Richard a good energy flow to allow oneself to overcome the barriers required to chip and change an irregular rock. An irregular with no purpose but to lie there in the ground waiting for some Zimbabweans to use their rock hammers and dig them out, to pile them up and to take them to their destination. Whereby, humble me, purchased this particular one and hey presto, something interesting groovily came to me and was witnessed here.

The picture above shows the side of the stone having been chiseled with a 1.2 cm chisel, the type that is the second largest from the smallest one available, the 5mm one I mean!! So here I am showing that the rock will look much more natural if made round on this occasion. I have also decided that some work was going to be done on the side that lacks a certain patter that makes up the floral stalk on the fourth side that is left abandoned so to speak until now. I was pleased to start doing work on it again.
Here is a landscape photo, that has been turned round in the photographic program I use and made to show an angled sculpture that has much more defined stalks, much more holed out, rounded stalks at the bottom of the stalk, these holes like most of the other parts of the deepened recesses surrounding anything that stands out needs to be made quite deepened due to the need to show that there is a great emergence of the flower and the plant parts that come out of the rock, that exude from it...
Here again the flash blasts all over the rock, but the look here is meant to show more ruffler work around the sepal that curls round as you see part of the rock is not blinded with light you can trace the sepal following down from the petal area, that also had more work done on it. The ruffler work slowly got to getting rid of difficult areas, that were too time consuming with a chisel, or could do the job quicker. So I was very pleased with the wise choice made here.
Here is a good look of me chiselling the rock on the side that is left bare. I have just thought perhaps I could do something with the base for instance make a flower pattern below the sculpture to suggest the sculpture has a hidden pattern to it, that is somehow emitting a puzzle piece of the artwork that reminds one that artists are crafty, in creating puzzles for their audience. Or rather keeping them geussing with little intricate parts in them, to make the viewer or audience ''lean in'' or oggle the piece with some curiousity. That is definitely a good idea. Although in this case, it is just that some people will look at 5 sides and not recognise the 6 as having anything there until the pick up the stone, to perhaps buy it, sometime in the future....
